The client portal is a branded web page where your client can log in and view documents you have shared with them. Each client gets their own portal at a URL based on their slug. The portal displays your workspace name and logo. If you have whitelabel enabled on your plan, Docsiv branding is hidden entirely and the portal can be served from your own custom domain.
The client portal requires a Pro or Agency plan. Clients on the Free plan cannot access or send portal invites.

Portal URL

Every client portal is accessible at:
https://[your-handle].docsiv.com/client/[client-slug]
If you have a verified custom domain configured, the URL uses your domain instead:
https://[your-domain.com]/client/[client-slug]
The client slug is automatically generated from the client name when you create the client.

Set up the client portal

1

Upgrade to Pro or Agency

The client portal is a paid feature. Go to Settings → Billing and upgrade your plan if you are on Free.
2

Add the client's email

The client must have an email address on their record to receive a portal invite. If you have not added one yet, open the client, click Edit, and add their email. The email address is locked after it is set because it is tied to the client’s portal login credentials.
3

Send a portal invite

Open the client detail page at Dashboard → Clients → [Client name]. Click Send portal invite.Docsiv sends the client an email with a magic link to access their portal.
4

Client signs in

The client clicks the link in the email, which opens their portal. On first login they are prompted to set a password. After that, they can sign in with their email and password directly.

How client authentication works

When a client visits their portal URL, they see a sign-in form. The flow depends on whether they have previously set a password:
  • First time — the client enters their invited email address and receives a magic link by email. Clicking the link signs them in and prompts them to set a password for future logins.
  • Returning — the client enters their email. If a password is already set, they are shown a password field and sign in directly.
  • Expired link — if a magic link has expired, the client is prompted to request a new one from the sign-in page.
Only email addresses that you have invited (by adding them to a client record and sending an invite) can access the portal. Anyone else who visits the URL will see an access-denied message.

What clients see

Once signed in, clients can:
  • Browse all documents shared with them in a searchable grid or list view
  • Filter documents by type (proposal, contract, etc.) and status
  • Open and view individual documents
  • Update their password from the Profile page
Clients cannot see documents in draft status — only documents marked as sent, open, accepted, or declined are visible in the portal.

Branding

The portal always shows your workspace name and logo in the sidebar header. The sidebar also uses your workspace brand font and logo as configured in Settings → Brand.
To hide Docsiv branding from the portal (including the footer and “Powered by Docsiv” text), you need whitelabel enabled. Whitelabel is available on the Pro and Agency plans.Without whitelabel enabled, the portal is not publicly accessible — it will show a 404 to visitors even if you share the URL.
You can copy a client’s portal URL without sending an email invite. Open the client detail page and click Copy portal link. Share this URL with the client however you prefer. The client will still need to enter their invited email address to gain access when they visit the URL.
